Every rider knows the importance of wearing protective equipment such as helmets and leather jackets but not too many even give a thought about motorcycle goggles. Saving countless lives by preventing what could be devastating accidents, the right goggles can make all the difference in the world.

If you think about it, wearing protective eye wear just makes sense. How many times have you been blinded by a speck of dust just while walking around on the street. It is enough to blind you for several seconds. Now, imagine that dust hitting your eye as you go 70 miles per hour down a highway. If you have to stop walking when this happens you will surely be impeded on your bike and the result can be deadly.

Goggles help to prevent such instances from occurring but they do so much more. The lenses for these goggles are no longer made from glass but shatterproof material making them far more resilient and resistant. Along with this the lenses come in an array of colors that suit different riding and light conditions. Pale yellow is great for driving during the morning or evening hours when the light is low. If it is a really sunny day you may want to break out the mirror lens to cut down on glare. Gold lenses are pretty versatile and great for many conditions. It never hurts to have a few goggles on hand of varying colored lenses that will suit most conditions.

Now, it can be the case that you are stuck in your ways and believe that goggles just do not offer anything to you. Sure, the goggles are made of shatter proof material far better at deflecting debris from bombarding your eyes and sure the tinted lenses are great for cutting glare and improving vision but what else can there be? Many goggles are now treated with a material that cuts out the chance of the goggles to fog up. Many others are ventilated for comfort and are durable enough to last for years to come.

Let us not forget style in your goggle consideration. Luckily, goggles can both be functional and look good a win win to many riders. Many of the top brands of goggle manufacturers offer many styles featuring safety features. Many bikers easily find goggles that suit their safety needs and their aesthetic preferences.

Bikers understand the danger of riding. It is inherit in the lifestyle they choose. A careful breed by necessity, bikers make sure that their bikes are tuned, that they wear the right clothing and helmets. Motorcycle goggles should not be overlooked especially when it can make the difference between a crash and a safe drive home.

Here in the UK, tens of thousands of drivers go about their business on our roads everyday expecting to get from point A to point B safe and securely. Thank goodness, most of the time this is exactly what happens, however a significant number of drivers are involved in road traffic accidents each and every day. Some of these accidents will involve a motorbike which will in turn, prompt an accident claim.

Motorbike riders who are injured in a road traffic accident that was not their fault can seek a settlement compensation for their injuries. The best way of going about this is through expert accident management companies, who only deal with the best motorcycle accident solicitors available. Solicitors who will ensure you receive maximum compensation for your injuries. Please note that a motorbike passenger can normally make a compensation claim regardless of which vehicle caused the road traffic accident. Going through an Accident Management company will still not cost you a single penny and you will still get to keep 100% of your compensation claim.

Two of the most asked questions after a road traffic accident is: ” what can I claim for” and also ” how much compensation will I get ” This will depend on what injuries you received and how severe your injuries are. An injury compensation claim needs to be handled not only by a qualified & diligent solicitor, but one who specialises in personal injury claims.

If the person injured in the motorbike accident for instance, was hurt enough to miss work then they can receive financial reparation for loss of earnings. Damage to vehicle and possessions will also be able to be claimed for and if extensive physical damage was done to the rider and or their passenger then the cost of medical treatment can also be claimed for.

If you have been involved in any type of road traffic accident and are uncertain as to what type of compensation, if any, you may be entitled to, make a appointment to speak straight away with an accident management representative, who will be able to asses your motorcycle accident claim quickly and give you the information you need to pursue your case with the most appropriate solicitor from their panel of solicitors.

Why a Biker Should Buy a Perfect Motorcycle Helmet? 24

A helmet is a life saver, as the law claims that it is the most vital protective gear in the life of a biker. The fun of biking is in the edge of the balance. No matter how seasoned you are, your own or somebody else’s error can cost a human life. Helmet then becomes your guardian angel. In most cases purchasing a helmet becomes a last minute job just before or after purchasing the bike.

If understood adequately, it can become a very technical procedure. People normally do not spend enough time and because of uneasy helmets their riding becomes a less-enjoyable experience. This may also be caused by just buying one based on its looks or on the suggestion of the bike dealer.

Following are some specifications which can make biking, a safe fun for you:

    1. DOT Certification: The job a helmet is to provide you safety. If it doesn’t ensure so then there is no use of wearing it. D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) provides a certification that you can find on a sticker at the back of your helmet. These helmets are tested in extreme in conditions and conform to all regulations needed to keep you safe.

    2. Retention: The helmet should comfortably sit on your head, unless you take it off yourself. The helmet should retain its position on your head when you experience accidental jumps or unexpected bumps. It should not slide off your head particularly when it is bound to provide you protection.

    3. Fit: Retention aspect works only when it fits on your head perfectly. You should be able to move your head aptly, envisioning all angles. The helmet should also be selected with reference to your head shape.

    4. Comfort: The physical and mental comfort is a must when choosing a helmet. This needs self-ascertaining and you should try various types before you find your own exclusively suitable piece.

    5. Coverage: It refers to the areas that your helmet covers. It means all the regions of your face and head that are protected by it. Trendy ones also provide additional extensions that make it look stylish but it all becomes useless if it not providing complete coverage to your head, back of neck and forehead.

    6. Face-shield: Face-shield is a definite irritation for some bikers but just like the helmet it must also conform to molding certifications that come along it. Covering the face is definitely a motive but not at the cost of making you feel claustrophobic. Try many of them, until you find one evenly ventilated.

    7. Convenience features: This encompasses a quick-change face-shield and a storage bag when you can carry an extra helmet.

    8. Appearance: A wide-range of variety is available in the markets to make you confused easily. More complicated looking are more expensive. Multi-colored ones are often more expensive than single colored helmets.

    9. Cost: All these specifications and certifications make such helmets expensive and way more than the cheaper ones. A good helmet is no less than an insurance policy, beyond its look invest in it enough to remain safe and to keep enjoying biking.

I have an Audi a4 with 57K miles, and it is due for 60K service. The dealer asks for $800, and it doesn’t include timing belt.

My question is how much should I pay for replacing timing belt? and is $800 a fair price to charge for 60k service?

    Thanks.
