| Choosing a New Motorcycle Helmet – 3 Important Tips |
11 May |
Powered by Max Banner Ads
There are many things that need to consider when choosing a new motorcycle helmet because it really is the most important part of your kit and is the one thing that can save your life in the event of a crash. Price is all too often the deciding factor when people buy a new motorcycle helmet. Don’t fall into this trap and end up buying a cheap motorcycle helmet.
1. Safety
Does it have a SNELL Safety sticker? If the helmet does not have the SNELL sticker, it means that it hasn’t met the SNELL safety standards. This is very important and is the most important thing when choosing a new helmet. Helmets without this safety certificate offer little, to no protection when involved in a crash.
2. Brand
Is the helmet made by a reliable company? Motorcycle manufactures such as Bell are synonymous with making some of the highest quality helmets in the world. No name helmets should probably be avoided as it’s hard to verify their quality. Even the SNELL safety stickers have been known to have been counterfeited. Buy a good brand.
3. Suitability
Is it the right helmet for you? There are many different types of helmet to choose from depending on what type of biking you intend doing. Also, would you prefer to have the added protection of a full face helmet or settle for an open face one.
Whatever type of helmet you decide on, remember its primary function is to protect you and save your life in the event of an accident. Be prepared to spend some money and avoid cheap helmets at all cost.

A motorcycle helmet is without doubt the most important piece of motorbike accessory. Regardless of whether you are looking to buy an open face helmet or a full face one, there are certain things that need to be taken into account.
First and foremost, the helmet should comply with D.O.T. certification standards. The helmets that are D.O.T certified, come with a sticker on them. This is vital as it is the only way to judge the quality and safety of the helmet.
Apart from the safety aspect, another important thing to consider is comfort. It must be remembered that helmet is something you will wear over and over again. Therefore, it should be safe, eye-catching and very comfortable.
The shell of the helmet is also an important consideration when choosing a helmet. It is usually made up of a polycarbonate mixture or fiberglass. Fiberglass helmets are usually high shock resistant and can last for a long period of time. Polycarbonate helmets, on the other hand, are light in weight but extremely stable. It is important for the helmet shell to be cast in one piece, as its main job is to spread the impact and prevent sharp items from penetrating the helmet..
It should be ensured that the helmet includes the safety liner. There are many cooler looking helmets available on the market, which are missing this important component. The role of the safety liner is to absorb the impact to avoid it being passed on to your head.
A nice ventilation system is also necessary. You should check if it’s possible to open and close the ventilation system and if the rear of the helmet contains any openings as the air coming inside should be able to go out of the helmet.
The interior of the helmet must have enough space for your ears. Those with ergonomically formed inside layer are usually much more comfy. It must be ensured that the helmet is not so heavy that it becomes a pain for you. Last but not least, you should consider the size of the helmet. There are some helmet manufacturers that don’t change the size of their shell, they only make changes to the inner liners. This implies that an extra large helmet will have much less padding on the inside than an extra small one. If you are looking for a helmet that doesn’t feel very large on your head, you should choose a brand that used different sized shells for each model. However, this kind of helmet may cost more.
If you need a motorcycle helmet for daily use, an open face helmet would be a good choice for you. However, if you are a sports rider, a full-face model may be more suitable.

| Helmet Mohawks – Why Would You Want to Purchase One? |
11 Apr |
Have you ever considered purchasing a helmet mohawk for your motorcycle helmet, bicycle helmet, rollerblading helmet, or any other type of helmet that you think of? You may be wondering exactly why you would ever want to purchase one of these products for yourself. The truth is, there are many different reasons that one would want to purchase a helmet mohawk for themselves.
One big reason that someone would purchase a helmet mohawk would be to spice up the boring, colorless helmet that they purchased, not knowing later that they would really want a little color or something to give a little more character. The mohawk can do just that, give your helmet character, and plenty of it! You may have a desire to make your helmet look good because you’re concerned about how others are viewing you, so this product would be a perfect fit for your needs in that it will jazz up your helmet, all while making you look unique and more original.
Another reason you would want a helmet mohawk would be to give you the opportunity to show off your sense of adventure or your desire to live on the edge a little. It takes a pretty outgoing individual to sport a product like this, and if being in the spotlight really gets your motor running, then this would help get you one step closer to that because it isn’t very often that you see someone wearing something like this on their helmet, so people can’t help but have their attention grabbed by it.
This leads into another important point about what the helmet mohawk can do for you as far as safety is concerned. Because it is such an attention grabber, people are more likely to notice you while you’re out on the road, which decreases the likelihood that you won’t be seen which could result in an accident. So in that sense, this makes this product one strategy that you can use to increase your level of safety while on your motorcycle, bicycle, skateboard, or whatever you might be riding at the time.
There are a number of positive reasons that people purchase helmet mohawks including the fact that they help bring a little life back to old, boring helmets, they allow people to express their creativity and originality, and they can definitely help increase safety awareness in your self as well as those around you. | Adult Motorcycle Helmets – Exploring Your Options When Making Your Helmet Purchase |
8 Apr |
Are you looking to purchase an adult motorcycle helmet in order to satisfy the helmet law in your state, or simply to provide yourself with some protection while you’re out on your motorcycle trip? Well you’ll have no problems finding what you need because of the fact that there is a style available for just about any preference that you may have.
One of the most popular types of adult motorcycle helmets is the half helmet. This type allows for the most freedom because there is no enclosure around the entire rider’s head. The shell only sits on the top half of the riders head, and a chin strap wraps down along the rider’s ears and fastens underneath the chin. Half helmets come in a number of shapes, styles, and sizes so there are a number of options that you have to choose from. The half helmet is one of the more popular adult motorcycle helmets because they are made to allow for more freedom by allowing more airflow to areas of the head that would normally be covered by the full face version.
Another popular type of adult motorcycle helmet is the three quarter style helmet which is much like the half helmet. The only real difference is that the shell of the three quarter extends farther down the side of the head, as well as the base of the neck. You also have the option of attaching large face shields on this type of helmet. These face shields typically run the entire length of the front opening on the helmet and can be flipped up or down which is great for allowing air flow to your face while riding.
Finally, the other popular type of adult motorcycle helmet is the full face version that we had mentioned earlier. This helmet is the most safest out of all the styles mentioned because of the fact that they completely enclose the rider’s head, leaving very little surface area exposed. This is great from a protection standpoint, but maybe not so great from a comfort standpoint if you’re looking for more freedom with regard to airflow. Full face helmets come with visors that can flip up and down, and often time will have vents situated around the front of the face near the visor opening to allow for increased air flow to the inside of the helmet. There are also versions of the full face helmet, also known as modular helmets, where the entire front portion of the helmet can be flipped into an upright position, leaving the entire rider’s face exposed. This is great for air flow and allows the rider to get a little breathing room during times of warm riding conditions.
If your shopping for adult motorcycle helmets, be sure to take your time doing so and explore all of the different options you have until you find the perfect one for you.

| Helmet Mohawk – Choosing the Right One For You |
30 Mar |
When it comes to deciding which helmet mohawk you would like to purchase, there really is only one question that you need to answer for yourself and that is, “So what color do I want?”. You can buy the helmet mohawk from many different sources online so if you have a preference for one provider, simply visit the website, and select the color that you would like best.
There are a couple of ways that you can decide on the color you are going to purchase. One of the more important factors may be the color scheme of your motorcycle gear. Since many riders are aware of their appearance when out riding, they often try to color coordinate their gear as best as possible. This may be because of a specific brand preference or simply because they care about how they look to others. More importantly, the rider may be trying to coordinate with the color scheme of the motorcycle they are riding. Whatever the case may be, it seems the more prominent factor for deciding on one color over the next is the desire to make one’s personal appearance more noticeable from a fashion standpoint than the next.
Another way to decide on which color helmet mohawk is right for you is to figure in the safety factor with regard to your visibility to others. This product not only can make a fashion statement for the rider, but it can also give the rider an increased level of visibility depending on which color is chosen. Since helmet mohawks are positioned on the top of the helmet, which is the highest point on the motorcyclist, they are easily seen by others around the motorcyclist, including oncoming traffic. If you want to be more visible to others, then you’ll want to choose a color that is easily noticeable by those around you. Some of the colors that are easily noticed are red, orange, green, and yellow. These are just a handful of the colors that are available, but may be some of the more noticeable colors that you can find. There are other more important factors that will help keep you more noticeable such as lighting, and reflectivity, but the helmet mohawk can definitely help.
When trying to decide which helmet mohawk is right for you, it basically boils down to what is more important to you, fashion or safety, and it is up to you to make the decision that makes the most sense for our situation.

| Motorcycle Helmet Evangelists |
27 Mar |
Are you one? Nope, me neither. But we all know them don’t we? The motorcycle riders who are Motorcycle Helmet Evangelists.
You may be thinking, “What the hell is Mike rambling on about?” Please, aficionados of two wheeled transport, let me take a minute or two of your time to explain.
The Motorcycle Helmet Evangelists are the guys who continually preach to us about motorcycle helmets. They fall into two camps the ones that wear ‘em and the ones that don’t. Now you know where this is headed right? You’re on a ride, and you meet a fellow biker and before pleasantries are explained, he will dive in about the evils of being forced to wear a helmet, how its all a communist plot, subversives at work, invasion of our fundamental right to do what we like when we like and to hell with the consequences….
Or he will immediately launch into a tirade of statistics about how those stupid riders who go lidless are pushing up all our insurance premiums, don’t deserve to get hospital treatment, should be left to fend for themselves at the side of the road when, not if they have that serious accident in the middle of nowhere…
Guys and girls, stop.
Think.
Do we need it? I mean do we really need to turn on each other when we have enough people gunning for us already? Motorcycle legislation is increasing worldwide, despite the clear benefits related to two wheels as an economical means of transport for the masses. Why try and force people to car share when riding a motorcycle could in some cases be better for the environment? And wouldn’t we all, even most of the cage drivers, like to see fewer cars on the road?
So what do we do? Well we could stop sniping at other motorcycle riders because they do or don’t wear motorcycle helmets. I will always choose to wear a motorcycle helmet, that’s my choice. I also choose to wear leather boots and jacket (not always on a motorcycle but lets not get into my sordid private life). But I won’t waste my energy chipping away at other bikers because they would choose not to wear a helmet. I’d rather use my energy to positively promote the riding of motorcycles generally as a viable means of transport for all, not the few.
And if some of those converts to motorcycle riding choose to wear a motorcycle helmet, or not as the case may be, well whatever. I could live with that knowing there are more bikers around.

| Why a Biker Should Buy a Perfect Motorcycle Helmet? |
24 Mar |
A helmet is a life saver, as the law claims that it is the most vital protective gear in the life of a biker. The fun of biking is in the edge of the balance. No matter how seasoned you are, your own or somebody else’s error can cost a human life. Helmet then becomes your guardian angel. In most cases purchasing a helmet becomes a last minute job just before or after purchasing the bike.
If understood adequately, it can become a very technical procedure. People normally do not spend enough time and because of uneasy helmets their riding becomes a less-enjoyable experience. This may also be caused by just buying one based on its looks or on the suggestion of the bike dealer.
Following are some specifications which can make biking, a safe fun for you:
1. DOT Certification: The job a helmet is to provide you safety. If it doesn’t ensure so then there is no use of wearing it. D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) provides a certification that you can find on a sticker at the back of your helmet. These helmets are tested in extreme in conditions and conform to all regulations needed to keep you safe.
2. Retention: The helmet should comfortably sit on your head, unless you take it off yourself. The helmet should retain its position on your head when you experience accidental jumps or unexpected bumps. It should not slide off your head particularly when it is bound to provide you protection.
3. Fit: Retention aspect works only when it fits on your head perfectly. You should be able to move your head aptly, envisioning all angles. The helmet should also be selected with reference to your head shape.
4. Comfort: The physical and mental comfort is a must when choosing a helmet. This needs self-ascertaining and you should try various types before you find your own exclusively suitable piece.
5. Coverage: It refers to the areas that your helmet covers. It means all the regions of your face and head that are protected by it. Trendy ones also provide additional extensions that make it look stylish but it all becomes useless if it not providing complete coverage to your head, back of neck and forehead.
6. Face-shield: Face-shield is a definite irritation for some bikers but just like the helmet it must also conform to molding certifications that come along it. Covering the face is definitely a motive but not at the cost of making you feel claustrophobic. Try many of them, until you find one evenly ventilated.
7. Convenience features: This encompasses a quick-change face-shield and a storage bag when you can carry an extra helmet.
8. Appearance: A wide-range of variety is available in the markets to make you confused easily. More complicated looking are more expensive. Multi-colored ones are often more expensive than single colored helmets.
9. Cost: All these specifications and certifications make such helmets expensive and way more than the cheaper ones. A good helmet is no less than an insurance policy, beyond its look invest in it enough to remain safe and to keep enjoying biking.
