When it came to buying a motorcycle, the decision was probably easy – why not get the best quality motorcycle from one of the best manufacturers in the world – Harley-Davidson. Harley-Davidson has been making motorcycles that withstand the test of time since 1903.
What makes Harley-Davidson such an amazing ride? It’s partially because Harley-Davidson is a truly a great sum of its excellent parts. Each detail of a Harley-Davidson works in combination to make this machine an amazing ride.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles are engineered for comfort and quality. The amazing suspension creates a smooth ride; the seat provides riders and passengers with comfort; the handle bars assist drivers and provide a stable ride. It doesn’t matter whether you are cruising down the street or cross-country, your Harley will provide you with the ride of a lifetime. Of course, this brief list doesn’t even begin to describe the complexity of the engine and the machinery that makes this bike run.
Owners of Harleys are more than mere cycle riders. They are people that love the adventure of driving a truly exceptional motorcycle. They don’t take their cycle for granted. They know that maintaining their Harley is an integral part of the job of riding. Like any cherished vehicle, we look for ways to make that ride better, or to take better care of the vehicle.
There are lots of accessories that you can buy to enhance your riding experience with your Harley and to make your motorcycle your dream bike. Let’s take a look at a couple of items that are a must for Harley owners:
Harley Center stands – A Harley center stand is a great way to stabilize your cycle. When you add a center stand to your bike, it becomes much easier for passengers to get on and off your bike, and easier for you to do maintenance on the Harley. Your bike won’t take up as much space in your garage because your Harley is standing upright. You can drive off the center stand and get moving easily. The Harley Center stand is easy to install and can be installed on touring models for the last 20 years.
Harley Air horns – Even on a big cycle like a Harley you still have to battle the cars on the roadways. Too many motorists are oblivious to motorcycles, but an air horn allows you to get their attention quickly. A few quick taps of this horn lets motorists know they need to be alert and make room for your cycle.
Motorcycle Wheel Chocks – Do you transport your Harley occasionally? If you’ve got your Harley in a trailer or a pickup truck you should use a motorcycle wheel chock to keep your bike in place. When you use a wheel chock, you keep the bike secure and prevent it from getting banged up.
Buying a Harley is a great investment. Keep your investment forever by adding the accessories that make your motorcycle even better.

7 Apr |
There are some ways you can do to deal with the blow-by oil leak in the sportster of your Harley motor cycle. One of the blow-by solutions from the factory is the blow-by vents which are so far from the vacuum. This is crated by carburetor inlet. This condition leads the blow-by to puddle in the bottom of the Sportster air filter housing and then leak into the engine.
One of the solutions you can do is to route the blow-by oil on the carburetor inlet. This is then made the blow-by oil suck into the carburetor of the Sportster. This will then lead the blow-by directly exit over the carburetor intake as what it should be.
The next you can do is to see the line of the fuel. The blow-by oil leak may be also caused by the stiff fuel line so that it can not route well above the carburetor inlet of the Sportster. The blow-by oil can ultimately deteriorate the vacuum hose. As it happens, you have to replace the hose which is close to the molded tubes inside diameter.
To replace it, you have route the hose sections through each of the blow-by tube. Then, simply pull it out from the air inlet opening. As those sections have been routed, connect the vacuum tee between them. Set the vacuum tea opening faces toward the inlet of the carburetor. Then, you can pull the vacuum hose from those sides until the tee properly settles inside the assembly of the air filter.
The last thing you should do is to cut the excess vacuum hose flush along with the molded tubes on the assembly of the air filter. The length of the blow-by bolts which attach to the head is inch. Meanwhile, the molded tubes into which they fit are inch. Once the air filter assembly is reinstalled, the blow-by bolts push the vacuum hose to the molded tubes so that there will be inch of vacuum tube which is still in the molded tubes. You have to reroute the blow-by over the carburetor.

| Harley Davidson – Modern Day Super Hero |

There are so many fans of Harley Davidson motorcycles, among both people that ride and those who never have and maybe never will. I’ve even met people who have never ridden who have the emblem proudly tattooed! They are beautiful well built machines that seem to automatically draw people’s attention. They are several reasons why Harleys resemble a real or even a comic book super hero, and here are three:
1) Superheros all have a strength, but they do not excel at everything. Aquaman doesn’t fly, Superman doesn’t eat fire, Batman doesn’t have X-ray vision and Harley-Davidson doesn’t small small bikes. Their strength, their super power, is in producing big bikes, ones with engines over 750cc. That what they do, and they do it exceedingly well.
2) Most heroes have a somewhat ordinary or even checkered past. Batman certainly has a troubled past. Real life heroes often have ordinary pasts with both ups and downs. Similarly, Harley Davidson had a period of pretty bad quality control where the bikes they were making had serious problems. They, like Batman and others, overcame their past.
3) Heroes don’t run around like Muhammad Ali proclaiming “I am the greatest.” Ever even hear a real hero, one who may have saved lives, claim to be a hero when interviewed on TV or in the printed press? They never do, just like H-D does need to make any grandiose claims. Their actions speak for themselves.
And of course, heroes have fans, and those are certainly not in short supply here.

| Shopping For an Aftermarket Harley Davidson Seat |
17 Mar |
Motorcycling is really a pursuit ideally appreciated by your butt. It’s probably the greatest justification to sit down for a few hours, but what you put under your butt can also determine the condition and length of the bike run. Yet several of us sink into a cushy bike seat in the showroom and instantaneously become enamored of its plushness. We will hastily purchase the luxurious seat and then, 50 miles down the road, ponder why our ass is numb, our back is in knots and our legs have lost all feeling. What’s up with that?
The assumption that softer is greater is really a major mistake. Although the cheaper foam may feel plush to begin with, it will eventually flatten out and kick the bucket. At that point you are going to uncover yourself virtually sitting on metal — the saddle pan underneath the foam.
All About The Cushion
A saddle is a component of your bike’s suspension system (you are suspended on it), and its size and shape effects your ride greatly; foam density and quality are an significant portion of the picture. There are various qualities of foam. Ideally, your bike seat will need to have high-density foam in the middle and bottom sections along with a thinner layer of soft foam closest to your butt. Good-quality foam is thicker and has more spring. It still bounces back again when compacted, although the less costly material will compress underneath the pressure. Top-shelf, closed-cell foam provides superior support for the street, but be ready to dish our the dough for it.
Measure Twice, Buy Once
An old tractor seat ideally describes the typical cruiser seat shape. On a motorcycle, the interior foam is sandwiched by a seat pan at the bottom along with a top cover designed of vinyl or, occasionally, leather. A typical seat has a base plate, and high-end touring models contain internal supports. Some manufacturers utilize rubber bumpers to decrease vibration. The rider’s part of a seat will need to be fairly wide and curved, and quite a few motorcycle seat makers strongly encourage the lowest part of the saddle be as far back as possible for a nice comfy ride. Cruiser styles normally employ a bucket within the middle and several frames are formed like a U. When saddle buying, contemplate your physical stature. Many riders between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall and 150 to 200 pounds could choose so-called “off-the-shelf” replacement saddles with solid outcomes. But think about your inseam and posture too. If you’re a major slouch, your tailbone will get additional pressure and filter pain up your lower back. Should you sit bolt upright, you could be susceptible to upper spine pains. Contemplate the space between the seat well as well as the rise at the back on the bucket wherever your back will be supported. Is it at a good angle? If not, it will encourage bad posture and far more discomfort. And don’t forget your passenger. A lot of cruising motorcycles ride two-up, and if your passenger slides around during braking, your nice trip can go haywire in a hurry.
Examine your body’s geometry within the motorcycle before any modification. Hand and foot changes can significantly change seat level of comfort. Recognize stress factors by sitting on the motorbike (have a buddy hold it up) feet on the pegs, and noting exactly where your rear end hits the seat. How is the fit around your inner thighs? Can you get to the handlebar easily? Write down these findings to use when you look for an upgraded option.
Swapping your motorcycle’s standard seat will increase your reach to the asphalt and generate far better geometry with floorboards and bars. A new saddle can improve back support, a bike’s styling and a passenger’s comfort too, but don’t think a change is generally in order. Before you change a saddle, take it for a lengthy ride to make sure it truly is really a ache inside bottom. And before you change|prior to altering|just before you alter a saddle to increase look, be sure aren’t carrying out anything that will help to make your motorbike literally a pain in the butt and some thing you will no longer like to ride.
Seat comfort problems are complex for the seat manufacturer too. A careful equilibrium has to be retained when crafting a cruiser seat. The conflicting desires of style and comfort must be incorporated into the design. The seat shouldn’t be too thin. If it’s too thin you have no compliance and you are going to bottom out. It has to equalize pressure and redistribute weight so there are no ‘hot spots’ that cause pain back to your booty. Better seats commonly require a break-in of the primarily stiff foam just before they mold themselves to your butt.
The material covering the motorcycle seat is also significant. Its capacity to respire while resisting wear, tear and water tend to be characteristics to search for. Leather is coveted for its appearance, feel and breathability, but it is pricey and prone to water damage if not routinely taken care of. And climbing on a drenched saddle is no way to begin a extended trip. The marine-grade vinyl used on several aftermarket saddles can mimic the best characteristics of leather while offering weather resistance and toughness at a reasonable price.

| A Brief History of Harley Davidson’s Past |
12 Feb |
The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle was produced in 1903. Although the sale of their motorcycles were very slow at the beginning. The single cylinder motorcycle that they created in 1903 sold very quickly and this motivated them to bigger and better things. But in 1905 sales dropped way off, as a matter of fact the only sold 11 motorcycles the entire year. So they knew they had to make some drastic changes and after trial and error in 1908 their business began to grow they sold a total of 154 motorcycles that year. The founders of Harley-Davidson motorcycles decided to move their production from the tiny barn that they were working in too a factory where they can have more space to build their motorcycles. They also hired their first employees a total of about 22 ramp-up your motorcycle production.
In just four years their business was booming they had over 200 motorcycle dealerships in the United States. Japan was also demanding a lot more bikes from Harley-Davidson as the interest for the motorcycle was really gaining popularity in Japan. Harley-Davidson was best known for its strong power in it’s motors it made a great racing bike, but that was not the reason the United States military chose to have Harley-Davidson build them 20,000+ motorcycles for the first world war. His huge contract made with the United States military pushed Harley-Davidson to the top they were the top motorcycle producer of that time and would stay that way for many years.
During the second world war the United States military again called on Harley-Davidson for their motorcycle needs they placed an order with the company for a vast amount of motorcycles. Although this was good for Harley-Davidson it was a bad time for anyone that was looking for motorcycle to buy from them because it was nearly impossible for any normal citizen at that time to purchase a motorcycle. This would be the Achilles’ heel for Harley-Davidson for a while as people got tired of waiting to be able to buy one they went to other companies to satisfy their needs for two wheeled transportation. This led to turbulent times for Harley-Davidson in the early 1950s but by 1957 they came out with a new brand called the Sportster and this would set them back on the top of motorcycle production companies. The Sportster seem to be what consumers were looking for at the time because of its sleek styling and it’s raw power.
From 1957 up until 1980 Harley-Davidson only made minor tweaks and adjustments in the style and design of the bikes they created but in 1980 they decided that they need to make some drastic changes in their selection of motorcycles. And in late 1980s they introduced the FLT it was equipped with a five speed transmission and instead of being chain driven Harley-Davidson went to a belt drive system. Then in 1984 they introduced what is known today as the V-twin motor. This helped them stay ahead of the competition.
Harley-Davidson has been one company that has always prided itself on feedback from its consumers. They would take into consideration all their consumers suggestions to make their product even better. In 1987 Harley-Davidson did something no other company had ever thought of they introduced their buyback plan which meant that they would give the consumer the full trade in value when they came in to purchase a newer model motorcycle. This was a big success with the consumers.
Since 1987 up until present day they have produced various new models that appeal to their customers wants and needs. They still have their popular Sportster, now made in various styles. The Dyna, a bike made for simplicity and speed, but they also have motorcycles made for comfort and cross-country rides such As the road king, the heritage classic soft tail, the electra glide, the Road glide, and many more and you can guarantee with the demand for a Harley-Davidson out there today there will be many more models created each and every year.
One thing that stood the test of time is that their consumers are definitely loyal customers because they won’t even consider riding any other type of motorcycle and I guess this is the reason that Harley-Davidson now has almost 65% of the market. With their attention to detail plus their commitment to keeping their customers satisfied you can guarantee Harley-Davidson will be around for a long time to come.
