I have a 2002 Audi A4. I can see the battery and it seems easy to remove both of the cables. However, there is a plastic bar covering the battery, making the battery difficult or impossible to remove. The plastic bar is connected to the surrounding mount. I cannot figure out how to open this plastic bar. Any ideas?

Test details: The Audi A4 was redesigned for the 2002 model year. Audi A4s manufactured after February 2002 include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. (Note: Information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door.) The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has evaluated the crashworthiness of a 2002 A4 with the structural changes in a 40 mph frontal offset crash test into a deformable barrier. The frontal offset crash test ratings also apply to the station wagon version of the A4, known as the A4 Avant, beginning with 2002 models manufactured after February 2002. Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy’s head hit the roof rail and B-pillar. This car is AMAZING! It only has 116k miles and it drives like no other. It has a Quattro All Wheel Drive system second to none. I have service records for it. It is truly a beautiful car! There is really no way to describe how powerful and smooth this car is, without getting behind the wheel. It is FULLY loaded with all the options, including heated seats, power windows, doors, locks, mirrors, steering wheel, toggle shifting, bose surround sound, in-dash disc changer, Radio Data Service, trip calculator, window sensors, and much much more.
