read comments (16)| Information You Need to Know Before Buying a Motorcycle |
23 Feb |
A motorcycle is a very dangerous piece of machinery for anyone, whether you are a child or an adult. Certain precautions need to be, established before you decide to buy a motorcycle for your child or for yourself. Also proper attire needs to be, worn when riding a motor cycle like gloves, jacket, helmet, kneepads and elbow pads.
The reason being is that the first few times, while riding the motorcycle, you may fall off the motorcycle. Always remember a motorcycle is not a toy. Although some people use them inappropriately, and many times wind up in hospital because they do not respect the motorcycle they are operating.
A motorcycle is just like any other motor vehicle, you should not; operate a motorcycle while under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. Failure to follow these precautions could result in a trip to the hospital or even death.
Many parents take their kids with them to get a dirt bike for them, at the age of 10 or so. However, you as the parent need to ask the storeowner about what size would be ok for your child. That way he or she will not hurt them selves while riding the motorcycle, also you may go ahead and buy yourself a dirt bike. This way you can go with them to keep an eye on them, and teach them the proper way to ride a dirt bike.
A dirt bike can be fun for anyone as long as you do not abuse it; so therefore, a smaller two-stroke engine dirt bike will need to be, used for any beginner. This way the engine is not as powerful as the four-stroke engine, and is easier to control.
Therefore, now that you know the facts, always remember that it is a privilege to own a motorcycle and can be a joy to ride around on and show off to all your friends, however, always remember to wear proper attire when riding a dirt bike it may save your life if for any reason you have a motorcycle accident.
There are hundreds of thousands of motorcycle accidents daily, because people feel they are motor cross racers defending a title of some kind and end up in fatal accidents. Therefore, if you feel at any time that you are not a responsible person on a dirt bike then you should not be operating one. A person should consider this, and use common sense when operating a dirt bike or motorcycle.

| Ezip 900 Electric Scooter – A Fun Look at the Ezip 900 |
23 Feb |
We bought our 14 year old son an Ezip 900 electric scooter, as a last ditch effort to get him out of the house! He had admired one that his best friend had, so we surprised him with it on Christmas morning. He seemed real excited about it, and now that he has ridden it for a couple of months, we have had a chance to evaluate it’s many features and qualities.
First of all, I must admit that I caught the “bug”, and now I ride the Ezip 900 myself! It handles my weight easily, as it has a weight capacity of 240 lbs. The relatively high weight capacity explains it’s popularity with older kids and adults.
When I first heard that it has a top speed of 15 mph, it didn’t sound particularly fast to me. However, now that I have ridden it, 15 mph is PLENTY fast. It does a good job of pulling me up hills, too.
We have several parks and stores near our home, not to mention several of my son’ friends. The scooter is perfect for reaching those destinations, so we don’t have to drive the car.
It actually has a range of up to 12 miles on a charge, and can run continuously for up to 40 minutes. I find that I can ride it for most of the afternoon, if I stop fairly often.
The battery pack has 24 volts, and takes about 6 hours to re-charge. I generally re-charge it overnight. The Ezip 900 electric scooter has a smooth ride thanks to it’s twin suspension fork, and 12 inch, street slick tires.
The front disc brakes provide sure, crisp braking, regardless of the terrain. This model looks sharp, too, with polished 5 spoke mag wheels. The deck consists of wide, 9-inch, extra thick ABS material which resists cracking.
I must say, though, that I feel a touch guilty about riding my son’s Ezip 900 so much. I guess I’ll just have to “break down” and get one for myself

Machete gang target newsagents
Five men raided a convenience store in West Didsbury. The robbers, armed with weapons including a machete, attacked MB newsagents on Greenbrow Road. They assaulted a 59-year-old shop worker by kicking and punching him to the ground, causing bruising. Cigarettes and cash were stolen from the store and the men made off in a silver Audi A6 saloon car.

| Bikers Are Not Motorcycle Monsters |
22 Feb |
Bike Week 2010, in Daytona, Florida, is just around the corner and Amelia Island is a great stop on your way to Daytona Beach. For those of you who do not ride, bikers are often a misunderstood group and thought of as Motorcycle Monsters. If you are not on the inside, I am going to let you in on a few unknown facts about the biker lifestyle.
First of all, most of the bikers I know, whether they ride daily, are weekend riders, die hard bikers or Wannabe’s, are not destitute! Motorcycling is not an inexpensive hobby. Bikes are quite costly, the apparel is expensive and when you are traveling by motorcycle you are spending money on hotels or campgrounds and in restaurants and grocery stores.
Biking is a mentality. When you walk into a “biker bar” you will notice that most everyone in the place is out to have a good time. Under normal circumstances, bikers do not usually fight among themselves. I have seen more fights in a Shoney’s Restaurant than I have seen in all the Biker Bars I have been to – combined! Bikers all have the same goal… to feel the wind in their face and enjoy life!
Loud pipes on motorcycles save lives. Bikers design their bikes intentionally to have loud pipes so the non-biker is aware of their presence on the road.
Motorcycles are registered and licensed by the Department of Motor Vehicles and have the same rights on the road as any other street legal vehicle. Just because bikers often ride in a staggered position DOES NOT mean that they must. “The entire lane belongs to me when I am on my Harley, do not get in my space!”
Hiding under all of that expensive leather and the sometimes obscene stickers adhered to a motorcycle helmet are people you know, many of them are just like you. These are your relatives, your neighbors and your kid’s teachers. They are doctors, realtors and bankers. These are working mothers, housewives, your lawyers and ballet teachers. Prejudices simply put, have no place in the biker world!
Most of all, the bikers I know are generous. They volunteer for many different functions throughout the year to help others in need. Charities for medical care, helping our Veterans and toys for children at the holidays are just some of the biker events I have attended for great causes. If you have never had the opportunity to truly attend a biker event, I recommend you set your sights on Fernandina Beach, Florida, and see just what the Biker Mentality is all about – you’ll be glad you did!
