| Be Prepared – First Motorcycle Trip of the Season |
20 Mar |
Be prepared for your first motorcycle ride of the season.
I don’t know how many of you were Boy Scouts but it is always helpful to follow their motto ” BE PREPARED” Now that the warm weather is just around the corner my thoughts turn to long rides on my bike.
I know to be prepared for sudden changes in the weather, what starts out a as nice sunny day can turn cloudy or rainy in an instant. I like to carry a rain jacket that I can pull on quickly and stow away when the rain is gone.
I ride in a good leather jacket. It offers protection and keeps the wind away. It has a zip out liner that I can remove when it gets too warm. Gloves are another thing I can’t ride without. My grip is much better and my hands are protected from the elements. They also add considerably to my safety.
Speaking of safety I never ride without my helmet. You shouldn’t either. Safety should always be first.
I find most cyclists ride safely, however it’s the other motorists you have to watch out for. Our bikes aren’t real easy to see at times and so many drivers are driving while distracted. Keep your lights on and drive defensively.
Be sure to prepare your bike also. Change the fluids and filters, get rid of old gasoline, and change the plugs. Check the battery, tires, lights, mirror, turn signals, and horn. Make sure the gears shift smoothly and the brakes are in tip top shape. Don’t forget your bike insurance.
Now you’re ready to go out and enjoy the glorious out doors. Have fun, be safe.
I highly recommend Discount Biker Gear for your apparel needs. They have a great selection and their prices are always at a discount.

My parents recently bought me an Audi a4 for my Sweet 16. I find this fabulous, if not expected, but now I face the issue of driving it to school or not. While I’m very pleased with my car, I’m worried on what people’s perspective of a 16 year old with such a nice car is. Opinions?
