Le Mans Cup

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) held a press conference Friday morning before qualifying for this weekend’s 12 Hours of Sebring to announce an expansion of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. When it was first announced late in 2009, the three-race championship was only going to apply to the top LMP1 class. The new championship will now apply to all four main classes: LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2.

The cup will be based on results from Le Mans series races in Europe, the United States and Asia. The European and American rounds will be the Silverstone and Petit Le Mans races, with the Asian event likely to be held in Shanghai. For each of the classes to be considered part of the cup, at least four cars will have to be entered. So far in P1, Audi and Drayson racing have committed. Peugeot has not yet decided whether to go to PLM or Asia.

After Le Mans, Peugeot plans to focus on development of its all-new 2011 car and may skip the remainder of the 2010 races. In spite of reduced restrictor sizes and boost, the Peugeots still managed to capture the top to starting positions for Saturday’s race. The Highcroft Acura grabbed the LMP2 pole while Gunnar Jeannette got the LMP Challenge pole. In GT2, the
Flying Lizard Porsche of Jörg Bergmeister had the fastest time after Dirk M?ller’s was disallowed due to a problem with his BMW.

Where to Find Vintage Motorcycle Jackets 2
Apr

More or less, we are what we wear. The clothes we wear speak a lot about our personalities, hobbies or professions. It is a good thing as it gives others a preliminary idea about how to break the ice. And this distinction is not newly formed; in fact, back in the Eighteenth and seventeenth centuries, well embroidered apparel was a sign of high social ranking for ladies. Similarly, you can still distinguish a businessman from other people in the crowd just by looking at his corporate apparel. But today as the professions, hobbies and passions are lot more in count than there were in older times; there are equally distinguishable numbers of apparels we see around us.

Not too long ago, came the movie Grease 2, the movie was only one of the many of its time which started the trend of fitted denim and leather jacket with metal studs. The style quickly became a norm and later many similar fashions were introduced time to time by the major motorcycle companies such as Harley Davidson, Buco and Grais. As those old motorcycles became a vintage treasure, the legend of the vintage Motorcycle clothing is still kept alive by the enthusiast. However, the fashion did change from time to time, from ‘Aviator’ styled to the ‘Cycle Champ’; the overall look almost remained the same. You can easily buy the new styled jackets from the market, but a true vintage motorcycle collector knows the beauty of vintage jacket is incomparable to anything else. And to find those, you really do not need to look as far as you might think; here are few suggested options that you might consider for this scavenger hunt.

The very first place to start the search for a vintage motorcycle jacket should be the yard sales. Some people who might look like ordinary neighbors must have been a wild child of their times, riding Harleys with their helmets and leather jackets on. And now they might just want to get some money for the otherwise useless stuff.

Other good places to find the vintage motorcycle jackets are the thrift stores, consignment shops and the flea market. The shop keeper of such places are keen observers, they know exactly what might interest a customer. If you really look like motorcycles enthusiast then the shopkeepers will definitely pull out the right piece of vintage motorcycle clothing that you are looking for.

Before looking in anyone else’s closet it is wise to ask people in your own family. Some old guys might not seem like much of a rider but the chances are that sometimes in their life they are likely to have been a part of the bad boy gang. And they will be a lot happier in passing their assets to you than anyone from outside the family.

If you are really serious vintage motorcyclist than you must also be aware of the motorcycle swap meets. There are a lot of motorcyclists clubs around which organize such events. You can subscribe to their mailing lists to be informed about their next destination and meetings. There is a wide chance that these like minded people would be more than happy to help you out.

And when all hope is out, the internet is always there at your service. You can easily find a number of stores and individual selling the kind of apparel you need.

2010 World Car of the Year winner Volkswagen Polo

Awards season is finally winding down with the 2010 World Car of the Year and World Performance Car of the Year being handed out this morning at the 2010 New York Auto Show. After whittling the fields down to three finalists in each category, the panel of 59 international journalists voted one last time to crown the World Car of the Year.

While the Toyota Prius, Volkswagen Polo and Mercedes-Benz E-Class were nominated, it was the Polo that took home the gold for 2010 World Car of the Year.

On the performance vehicle front, the nominees were the Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 GT3 and Ferrari California, with the Audi winning top honors.

They also handed out a Design award for a group of finalists including the Citroen C3 Picasso, Kia Soul and Chevrolet Camaro. That honor went to the Camaro. (U-S-A! U-S-A!)

The Green category saw Volkswagen‘s line of diesel-powered BlueMotion vehicles beat out the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight hybrids. (Die-sel! Die-sel!)
