Yes… I had a Grand Am with the Quad4 and it was constantly in the shop with ingition/coil problems. I have heard good things about the Ecotec though.

i assume you mean Quad OHC based 2.4, not the Ecotec?

the GM 2.4L is a nightmare of an engine… I know from experience…. absolute junk

Bonnie GXP/Lucurne Super = Detuned Northstar 275 HP

thats a differnt motor in the impala ss grand prix gxp and lucerne super. it was in the bonnie gxp and aurora

The 2.4L is a nightmare? Well, the one in my ‘98 Sunfire vert has 121K miles on it with no issues. In fact, if you read up on it, the only known weakness of the 2.4L is the water pump (because it is driven by the timing chain instead of a belt it tends to wear somewhat faster). So yep, I guess that makes the 2.4 a nighmare….to Honda owners who come up against one of these 150 horse, 155 torque import killers.
