The power isn’t an issue as it’s actually the other way round; the amp gets it’s signal from the head unit, then the power from the amp drives the sub.
You should be fine using the head unit you have, you just need to check to see if it has pre-outs (2 jacks, red and white). If it doesn’t, you need to make sure the amp can get it’s signal from a ‘line-level connection’, basically using existing speaker wire as the signal.
