My audi 1.8T stock. 5-th gear from 140 to almost 210

The speedo on my A6 does lie, and I’d be surprised to learn that others don’t.
Even if the speedo itself was exact, any change in tire diameter – for example, due to worn profile – would cause an offset of up to several percent of the actual speed. You can easily calculate how much of a apparent speed difference lies between tires with 8mm and ones with 2mm profile.
54 on my speedo = 50 on my GPS (8% off), 240 = 227 (5.4%, so, surprisingly, error isn’t linear).
1) the speedo always lies, you’re always slower than the speedo says, 240kmh speedo are about 220kmh real.
2) good or not depends on your liking. it is not as loud as other engines thanks to the turbo and most “non-turbo” exhausts will make it more silent.
3) don’t drive a turbo above 200kmh when the temp is about -0.5°C. that’s where the 32l come from.
it depands on what kind of sound you like. If you prefere V-engine sound you won’t like it, but if you more like BMW engines it sounds a little bit similar to them. Especially BMW E36 1.8 IS.
you’re right that the stock 1.8t has a top speed of 221 km/h but a 240 hp 1.8t can easily top 250-255 km/h. With the same gearbox, the 2.8 v6 193 hp engine reaches a top speed of 238 km/h(that’s written in audi b5′s manual).

Speedos lie on most cars but not audis. I have tested my A4 with two reliable GPSs at up to 220kmh
