Visiting or living in Florida is wonderful with the great weather and scenery. Obeying the traffic laws ensures most will arrive safely to their destinations. Driving defensively should be a way of life for safety and financial reasons not just for motorcycles but for automobiles too. There are laws on the books however, that could be a nightmare for not only an innocent driver but a way to defraud an insurance company.
The following scenario could happen to anyone: With the left turn signal on, and slowly rolling but not come to a complete stop the motorcyclist waited for the oncoming traffic to clear. A truck that had followed him for about two miles had started slowing down about 50 yards back. As the truck driver crept forward, it appeared as though he was doing the same thing, waiting for the traffic to clear to allow the bike to make the turn. One more glance back to be sure all was well the last car went by and the motorcyclist started his turn. All of a sudden out of nowhere the truck behind him was beside him and in his path! The truck was only going about 5 to 7 miles an hour, so when they met it was just a glancing blow. The motorcycles front tire hit the trucks right front wheel and both bike and motorcyclist fell to the road.
The truck pulled about 50 feet ahead and stopped. First instincts were to run up and scream in his face, but the sight of the bike laying in the middle of the road made the biker stop. After getting the bike out of the road, both truck driver and motorcyclist took a deep breath and relived the experience. Witnesses were on hand to confirm what had happened. The truck driver said he did not see the turn signal blinking on the motorcycle and did not know why he was stopped in the middle of the road and decided to go around him after the traffic cleared. Admitting fault and providing insurance information they agreed this honest truck driver could leave and the motorcyclist waited for the State Trooper to come and write a police report.
When the Florida State Trooper arrived, he listened intently to the description of the accident. He looked at the damage to the motorcycle, and asked several times if anyone was hurt. After quietly reviewing the scene he dropped the bombshell “I can write this accident report up if you want, but, I will have to ticket you if I do.” Astonished he had to ask him to repeat himself. As long as no one was hurt, alcohol was not involved and both drivers agreed to the description of the accident the Trooper was not bound to write the accident report. The involved drivers could report it for insurance purposes with a “Drivers Report Of Traffic Crash.” But why was this innocent victim going to be charged?
There is a Florida Law on the books that when summed up reads, It is the responsibility of the motor vehicle operator, to make sure another driver is not trying to pass while attempting a left turn. The only way the passing driver could be charged, is if he could not get back into his lane before a double yellow line or “No Passing Zone”.
Even if the law is not on your side, most motorcyclist and automobile drivers do not want to be involved in an accident regardless of who is at fault. The lawmaker who wrote this law punishes the less cautious driver, not thinking of the unscrupulous few that take advantage of this type of situation. There are those that make a living by creating accidents and collecting monies from insurance companies. The idea is not to re-write traffic laws but inform the public they could become a victim of an impatient driver not paying attention or worse.
Being a motorcyclist, means defensive driving must be a way of life. Looking twice for the biker is not enough, sometimes three or four times is a given. Learning valuable lessons and living to tell them is a humbling experience and passing it on is the thing to do.
Riding motorcycles is a passion fueled by the wind, sun, rain and cold. The term “Biker” brings to mind confidence with style. Generations of men and women have experienced the excitement of straddling raw power with the freedom to roam.
Safety, comfort and protection should always be a consideration. Fortunately for the biker, the market for motorcycle gear and motorcycle accessories is massive. The information and links in our website takes away the time spent searching for great deals which allows more time for cruising.
Going for a spin could be around the block or 5000 miles. No matter, if you ride a road hog or crotch rocket the spirit of the road becomes more than just two wheels turning.
Serious motorcyclist will agree, the attire is as important as the ride. From the helmet, leather belt and motorcycle boots, dressing for adventure, or just spinning around the block, motorcycle products and riding gear can make the difference.
It is advisable for travelers on two wheels to have a backup plan. Depending on how far you have wandered from home base will tell you if you have the necessary accessories.

When does a timing belt need to be replaced on 2003 Audi A4?
Posted by: Admin / Category: Audi Related QuestionsI have a 2003 Audi A4 with 75K miles on it. The dealer is pushing to have the timing belt replaced, but it isn’t recommended in the user manual until 105K miles. I have seen a lot of problems with premature breakage on the late 90s models. Has this problem been fixed or is it still an issue? I am driving from OK to Alaska in January and really don’t want to have it break driving through Canada….
Thanks!

Geely And Volvo Could Work
Mergers and acquisitions in the car business have a terrible record. DaimlerChrysler stands tall as the worst example of a bad marriage. General Motors made a hash of Saab and Hummer and its tie-ups with Isuzu, Suzuki and Subaru didn’t yield much either. Tata has struggled with Jaguar and Land …

When it comes to deciding which helmet mohawk you would like to purchase, there really is only one question that you need to answer for yourself and that is, “So what color do I want?”. You can buy the helmet mohawk from many different sources online so if you have a preference for one provider, simply visit the website, and select the color that you would like best.
There are a couple of ways that you can decide on the color you are going to purchase. One of the more important factors may be the color scheme of your motorcycle gear. Since many riders are aware of their appearance when out riding, they often try to color coordinate their gear as best as possible. This may be because of a specific brand preference or simply because they care about how they look to others. More importantly, the rider may be trying to coordinate with the color scheme of the motorcycle they are riding. Whatever the case may be, it seems the more prominent factor for deciding on one color over the next is the desire to make one’s personal appearance more noticeable from a fashion standpoint than the next.
Another way to decide on which color helmet mohawk is right for you is to figure in the safety factor with regard to your visibility to others. This product not only can make a fashion statement for the rider, but it can also give the rider an increased level of visibility depending on which color is chosen. Since helmet mohawks are positioned on the top of the helmet, which is the highest point on the motorcyclist, they are easily seen by others around the motorcyclist, including oncoming traffic. If you want to be more visible to others, then you’ll want to choose a color that is easily noticeable by those around you. Some of the colors that are easily noticed are red, orange, green, and yellow. These are just a handful of the colors that are available, but may be some of the more noticeable colors that you can find. There are other more important factors that will help keep you more noticeable such as lighting, and reflectivity, but the helmet mohawk can definitely help.
When trying to decide which helmet mohawk is right for you, it basically boils down to what is more important to you, fashion or safety, and it is up to you to make the decision that makes the most sense for our situation.
