2005 Audi A6 4.2 with rear resonators/ mufflers replaced with Magnaflow Resonator tips, 3.5″ x 4.25″ x 12″. The video doesn’t do the sound any justice. Magnaflow part # 35174

Oh. My car was run over and died. If anyone has done this same exhaust setup, please let me know/ post the video. It might help me get over my loss…

Yes, well the 4.2L A6 helps the tips sound better. But if you already have that part, then buy the two tips, cut off the rear muffler from each side, and weld in the tips using some extra straight pipe. Wahla!

Yes, I only removed the rear muffler from each side and replaced them with the tips

It won’t sound the same on a V6. It will sound more like a farty old man.

Yes. It is. search the magnaflow site for just the part number and it will come up. or go to Summit Racing and search the part number there. Sometimes they don’t list the oval pipes like I have, but look harder and you will find them.

gnaloin,
Great suggestion, it does appear to move a lot in this video- The tips were fastened securely to the body, and that is the extent of the movement; it is not possible for the tips to touch the bumper in any way. This was accomplished by re-utilizing the previous mount points. Audi did a fine job engineering this one.. No chance of burning any plastic here; thank you for the suggestion, though!

Howdy!
Magnaflow part # 35174 (get two)
I removed the rear mufflers and replaced them with these resonated tips.
Now, the car has a total of six resonators, and zero mufflers.
I can hear the exhaust when accelerating, but not when cruising. When
I talk on the phone handsfree via bluetooth, no=one can hear the exhaust on the other end of my calls.
But yes, I can hear it. I wanted to be able to hear it and it is better than the radio.

You might want to secure the final parts of the exhaust to the body of the car to keep it from banging to the bumper on uneven roads.. Worst case scenario would be the exhaust tips to melt the plastic..

hey im just wondering if you replaced the mufflers or just the tips and kept everything else stock and if its loud when your cruising or just accelerating ?

Do you have the part# for the tips? I don’t see it on their site.
